Lake Kabetogama-Ash River Fishing Report
Lake is a little quieter but the bite is still on…
As summer seems to be winding down the lake is taking a break, with all the boaters taking advantage of the continued pleasant weather. Friday and Saturday were about as busy as I have seen it recently. The nights have a cool and crisp feel to them and daytime temps are still just about perfect in the mid 70’s. It has been perfect for nighttime gatherings around the campfire. You get a sense fall is just around the corner. Even bear sightings are on the rise as they start to wander looking for an easy meal to fatten up for the long winter.
Water temps have dropped a little into the low to mid 70’s.
On windy days walleyes are very active near shallow weed lines otherwise focus on 20’-25’ in and around mid lake structure. A leech and lindy combo is still out producing other presentations. Low light periods are the best times to be out there.
Perch have been a great bonus lately mixed in with the walleye.
Small mouth bass and nice size northern pike are still being caught with regularity, casting shorelines and weed beds. Spinners, spoons and Rapalas are all producing.
Even though they are forecasting cloudy skies tomorrow, keep an eye on the sky as we are expecting a 75% lunar eclipse in this area around 1:30 p.m. Make sure you have proper eye protection!
Don’t forget we have our annual community garage sales on the 25th and 26th, 9am 3pm. Maps available at Gateway General at 8am on Friday-August 25th.
We will kick it off with our fishing contest finale and grand opening all at the Gateway General Store!
See you there!
